Dr. Kavi Arya Invited Dr. Veena K N regarding giving a talk on the “Sewage Robot” which won the national level award during e-YIC 2017 conducted by e-Yantra IIT Bombay. In the history of e-Yantra, “Sewage Robot” is the only project which has come up till product level stage. The objective of the invite was to share the experience of Sewage Robot team with students and faculty of various colleges from all over India in the e-Yantra symposium. Mr. Suraj N was keen on sharing his experiences on the development stages of the “Sewage Robot” project to product to the student community. He spoke about the motivation, the support from REVA University and the journey of the “Sewage Robot” from project to product.
Testing in REVA Manhole
Sewage Robot (MSPCR-I) has been tested in the laboratory by using a manhole test rig that simulates realistically the actual environment and conditions encountered in real-life manholes. Tests such as the motor drilling speed optimization test, clamping action test, and robot dynamics tests have been carried out to ascertain the practicability of the robot. Also, the robot has been tested in real-time conditions by selecting a manhole inside the REVA University campus under different conditions. These experimental tests have given us valuable insights for improving the robot further. Reduction of set-up weight by using Aluminium and other composites, substituting metallic parts with plastics and other alternatives wherever possible, reduction of overall length of the robot, and providing optimum ground clearance.
